This high-poly firearm model was made for my second year Asset Design course. We were tasked with creating a model of an existing gun and replicating it closely and realistically as possible. Along with the gun, we had to model 2 removable attachments, one for the barrel, and one for the picatinny rail. I chose to model the Kriss Vector, an unusual looking SMG, and I am very proud of the results. The two attachments I chose were the Defiance HPS Suppressor and the Holosun HS510 Reflex Sight. This was my first time working with a high-poly mesh and also my first time replicating real-life materials and textures. I learned a lot during this project including how to use masks, transparent materials and height maps inside Substance Painter. We also learned how to import and texture the models in Unreal Engine. The intent of the project was to prepare the models for a customization interface where the player could select the attachments that they want on their gun. Unfortunately, the assignment was cancelled and we never got a chance to program the UI portion.
